For me the key to getting this to work was: 1) Remove the previous installation from settings->control panel. I pressed that button on the top-popup and down went mysql ;-) So I have another set of crashdump files, but I don't know if it is "the same crash". This is on the machine where I simply upgraded, the system where I reinstalled from scratch and imported the database from sql is still running (but this system is less used). When MySQL is uninstalled go to where MySQL was installed and delete any leftover files/folders (delete the main mysql folder).Now reinstall MySQL. anyway can you create a dump of your databases and then restore them?
