I'm now very familiar with using both a terminal session and Yast / Bootloader for trying to resolve grub issues. Fedora was one of the last hold-outs still using it, and it required RH to pay for someone to work full time just to maintain it. I decided to remove the partition containing Ubuntu and restore the windows boot loader and start over with a smaller partition for Ubuntu. However, it seems likely that these are the same problems. Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed.
I reestablished the GRUB booter but when trying to delete it from the MBR altogether, and restore the windows bootloader, the "Error 6" comes up.
